September 2010 - All go, go, go!!!

Well it seems another busy month has past us by again. Now, what have I been up to this month? well quite frankly a bloody lot. I left you last month on the Car Park so we will pick up from where I left off.

Now I had a bit of a re- think about my rigs for my return back to the CP. As I said I had a pick up that I thought was a linear and didn’t hit it, when retrieving the rig I had been done. When I arrived back to CP the swim I had been concentrating on was gone, which was the Bar swim so I opted for the Curly. A change is as good as a rest I thought.

Anyway, I opted to put a rod up the margin and the other was positioned out in the pond on a nice clean spot with a bit of weed around it. About two hours into the session and Sam who was fishing in the Bars had a bite and it turned out to be Arthur  at a weight of 42lb plus, what I didn’t know was that both me and Sam was fishing the same margin our rigs couldn’t have been more than 10 feet apart. It’s the old saying close but not close enough but fair play to Sam for catching it, he truly deserved it.

I must admit I was totally blown away by the sight of it, bearing in mind when this fish is at its top weight its over 50lb. The following morning I had a take on the open water rod which turned out to be a tench, but at least the tweaking of the rigs had proved my thoughts right. It was well and truly nailed, the next morning I had another two tench so the old rigs were working a treat.

Now due to other commitments I haven’t been back to the CP for three weeks now and I’m dying too.

One of the commitments was 'Carping for Kodak' and what a great success it was too. I would like to thank all the named anglers and the bidders for making it a top weekend. I would also like to say a big thanks to Rob Maylin and Gina my wife for everything they done behind the scenes and Ollie for all his running around over the weekend.

Im not going to go into to much depth as I am doing an article in Big Carp next month about it, but I did manage to winkle one out though, a nice 21lb 6oz common.

The other commitment this  week is doing a feature for Carpology up at Bradley’s with Keith Sykes (who I have the up most respect for) and my old mate Pete 'The Painter Bond' and the rest of the lads, so I will let you know next month how it all went and hopefully by then I will also be back up on the Car Park, which is where I intend to spend this winter. I do like a challenge so until next month be lucky.

Cheers and tight lines...
