October 2010 - Won't be long until the frost

Well here we are again another month gone by, so what have I been up to this month? Well, at the start of the month I had to travel up to the Cotswold country park to do a hardware piece for Carpology. It was good to catch up with Keith Sykes, Martin Pick, Jamie Smith, Bidders and my best pal Peter Bond.

Now the place we fished wasn’t what I’m used too, a place called Bradley’s which is in excessive of a 130 acres of inland sea, and full of crayfish (not good). Although Dave Benton managed a low doubled mirror nothing much else happened fish wise but we had a few beers and a good laugh between us all.

The main objective was to test 8 different wheel barrows and give the readers our own view on them. I have to say there is some really good barrows out there at the moment. The two I choose which I thought was that little bit more special than the rest was the Nash barrow and the Carp porter 3, but buy Carpology too see the final outcome.

RETURN TO THE CAR PARK

After a month away from the CP, I was keen to get back at it. As far as I knew only one fish had been out which was The Baby Orange but this time over the 40lb mark which was caught by Martin King. Although this was a repeat capture Martin was pleased all the same. His a really nice fella too.

So my first trip back saw me set up in the Curly again where I had caught the three Tench from. I knew two spots in which I wanted my rods cast too, and it wasn’t long before both rods were bang on the money.

Now everyone on the CP will tell you the spots are the spots, but on my first morning I saw a fish show really short. Marking the spot for when I re-done the rods, it took about an hour for me to find an area where I could get a drop and would be happy to position a rod on.

The second morning as I sat there waiting for a show or a bite, I was totally disappointed when nothing happened. This place is a real head do sometimes. When I arrived back to the lake a week later I was gutted not to get back in to the Curly as I had hatched a little plan while I was away. I had to opt for another swim called the Bars and I have to say for my entire 48 hour session the weather was crap, high pressure clear skies and freezing cold.

But I can assure you I wont be beat and plan on doing the whole winter up on the Car Park, so until next month be lucky.

Cheers and tight lines...
