Looking for Autumn glory
By Dan Chart

It was about this time last year I wrote a piece on why I'm always glad to see the back of August, well guess what.... I'm still glad to see the back of it and July for that matter!

The fish on my lake have really got stuck into the naturals this year making it so tough for everybody. I will not lie to you and say I've done everything in my power to stop this happening, last year I gave them Garlic and Black Pepper boilies regularly and heavily and they were troffing it but since changing jobs and working ridiculous hours I haven't been able to get up to the lake regularly which I think, coupled with the lack of anglers fishing there, has meant they have turned onto the natural food.

I was lucky enough to have caught one of my target fish in the early summer and it had obviously been on the snails as my sack was full of it when I took her out! But, I know (or hope!), September will be different and, for that reason, I will do everything I can to get on the bank and apply the Aquatix Anchovy as the natural will dwindle off as the weather gets cooler and the fish will turn onto the bait.

I will go to stupid lengths of doing overnighters, leaving at silly o'clock in the morning to go to work as night takes are more likely at this time of year as the cooler nights makes them get their heads down...get up at dawn and see for yourself, its not unnatural to see sheets of bubbles on the surface!

Yesterday I went for a mooch around my lake and stumbled across a fish I caught last year at 37+. This time it looked alot larger, at what I would estimate to be a low forty. Nothing has come out of the lake for two months which goes to show they get large enough without our help!! Good luck everyone for the forthcoming month, bag the brownie points now with the Mrs' and push the boat out for September!

Cheers & Tight Lines
